Photographer Of The Year in two categories, Nature and Special
My surreal landscape series “(Unveil the Secrets) Beneath the Surface” was awarded total of 4 Golds and 1 Silver at One Eyeland Awards 2016.
With these awards I was titled as:
– Photographer Of The Year – Nature category
– Photographer Of The Year – Special category
Also my image “For a Safer Tomorrow”, made for SPEK (The Finnish National Rescue Association) got a Finalist certificate in three different categories.
One Eyeland Awards is one of the biggest photography competitions in the world and the quality of it’s entries is outstanding.
A whopping 4319 images were uploaded from 65 countries. That was an increase in entries by 32% as compared to last years One Eyeland Awards where I also succeeded pretty well.
A power jury comprising 19 of the finest photographers, art directors and creative directors sifted through the entries and handpicked the winners.
In all 17 Golds (15 amongst Professionals), 73 Silvers, 180 Bronzes and 463 Finalists made the cut, straddling 95 categories.
The main reason I attend to few selected photography competitions almost every year is simple. To check the level of my work quality amongst other top photographers.
Our industry and it’s standards are constantly changing so taking part in these world wide competitions is a good way to get the necessary feedback (whether it’s good or not so good) what helps you see how to go forward with your work and style.
If my images do not succeed, I know I probably should do something differently and that pushes me to do my work even better.
If my images are successful, I know I’ve done my work well and it pushes me enthusiastically to do my work even better.
I think as a photographer it’s important to be aware of their own weaknesses and strengths in order to improve.
With this success I will eagerly look forward to following projects where I can create something epic and new yet again!

Images above were only ones I sent this year and all of them got awarded. Pretty good don’t you think? 😉
